How to use voice typing
- Choose the language you are going to speak.
- Press Start listening. Your browser asks for microphone permission the first time — the prompt only appears after you press the button.
- Speak normally. Words appear below the box while you talk, and each finished phrase is added to the text.
- Press Stop when you are done, then edit the text as you would anywhere else — type, delete, select or paste.
- Press Copy Text to take it with you.
Speech is always added to the end of what is already in the box, so anything you typed or corrected by hand stays exactly as you left it.
Browser support and limits
- Voice typing depends on your browser. Recent Chrome and Chromium-based browsers support it; some browsers do not, and this page will say so instead of failing quietly.
- Recognition quality varies by language, accent, microphone and device. Arabic and Darija results are usually less accurate than English or French.
- Your browser may send audio to its own online speech recognition service to do the work, so a connection is often required.
- A microphone permission prompt appears only when you press Start listening — never on page load.
- Browsers usually end a listening session after a stretch of silence. If it stops on its own, press Start listening again.
Speech to text in Arabic, French and English
This is a speech-to-text tool for anyone who would rather talk than type — long messages, notes, or writing in a script your keyboard was never labelled for. Arabic voice typing is the default, with Moroccan Darija, French and English also available.
Prefer to type the letters yourself? The on-screen Arabic keyboard does the same job with your mouse or finger. If a key on your own keyboard has stopped responding, the keyboard test will find it.
About your voice and your text
Voice recognition is provided by your browser. Depending on your browser and device, audio may be processed by the browser’s speech recognition service. This site does not record your microphone, and does not store your recordings or transcript on its own server — there is no server here to store them on.
